Outlook 2016 for Mac gets Google Calendar, Contacts support
Microsoft today announced that Outlook 2016 for Mac is adding support for Google Calendar and Contacts. Support is rolling out first to the Office Insider Fast community, and will match the experience already seen on the Outlook apps for iOS and Android, ultimately providing users with Google accounts with more ways to stay in control of their content.
The Google Calendar and Contacts support means that all changes made in Outlook on Mac will update back and forth with Gmail or Outlook for iOS and Android, so everything is in sync across all your devices. Accordingly, Outlook's email features have expanded beyond those with Outlook.com, Office 365 or Exchange email address. For instance, those with Google accounts will also be able to take advantage of several of Outlook's advanced features such as Focused Inbox and richer experiences for travel reservations and package deliveries.
Overall, to get started with these new features, Outlook 2016 for Mac users who are part of the Office Insider Fast program should sign up to become an Insider, by opening up Outlook, click Help > Check for Updates and then follow the directions found here. It is worth noting that not all Insiders will see the new Google account experience right away, since Microsoft has plans to expand the rollout over the next few weeks. Outlook, however, will notify you when the feature becomes available, with a prompt asking you to add your Google account.
