How-To: Gradually wake the Apple Watch Series 2 with the Digital Crown [Video]
If you're an Apple Watch Series 2 owner, you'll find a new feature in watchOS 3 that allows you to gradually wake the screen using the Digital Crown. This is a handy feature for those moments when you wish to view the display in a subtle manner without fully turning on the screen. Watch our video overview inside to see it in action. The feature, which is officially labeled Wake Screen on Crown Up in the General → Wake Screen section of the Watch app preferences, is only available to Series 2 owners. The Digital Crown wake feature can be toggled via the Watch app preferences, and can be used in concert or separately from the traditional Wake Screen on Wrist Raise functionality.Turning the Digital Crown up while the Apple Watch screen is off will incrementally display the contents of the screen. Turning the Digital Crown down after partially awakening the screen will dim the screen incrementally until it's off.If you wake the Apple Watch screen slightly using the Digital Crown, the screen will automatically dim and shut off by itself. If you wake the screen fully by turning the Digital Crown all the way up until maximum brightness is achieved, then the Apple Watch screen will remain on like normal.
