Sling TV now offers Showtime for additional $10 per month
Dish's Sling TV now lets customers add Showtime to their channel package for an extra $10 per month. That includes the regular, linear Showtime network and seven other channels as well; they're all listed in this blog post announcing the addition of Showtime to Sling TV. Tacking Showtime onto your monthly subscription also adds around 2,000 on-demand titles. The timely announcement comes days before Homeland's season six finale.
Sling TV now claims itself to be the first over-the-top internet TV streaming service to (optionally) offer all four “premium” networks: HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and Starz. Sony's PlayStation Vue offers HBO and Showtime, but not Cinemax or Starz. AT&T's DirecTV Now has HBO, Cinemax, and Starz, but not Showtime.
Sling TV is generally seen as the bargain internet TV service. But it's much different today than it was at launch. As a refresher, Sling offers two subscriptions: orange (starts at $20/month) geared around Disney channels like ESPN, or blue ($25/month) which includes Fox and NBC. The respective channel lineups are here; both feature popular cable networks like AMC, FX, and HGTV and a variety of add-on channel packs ranging from $5 to $15 (HBO).
